Day 9

Last night went to the Rusty Spur. Good outlaw country band played. My hick sounding accent is finally paying off, not sure how many girls first question was "where are you from" but the response of "Georgia" usually netted a big hug. Never been hit on in a bar so many times in any town. Looking forward to LA!

Today we took a 4 wheeler tour in the desert around Phoenix for a couple of hours. Had a great time and saw lots of beautiful scenery. Happily the guide was cool and let me and Jeffrey tear around and have fun instead of staying behind him and riding slow. Stereotypes visit me again... the other two people in our group were an Asian couple. The Asian female almost flipped over backwards once and later almost drove off a cliff. Her husband didn't have any close calls but was far from impressive. We let them get a head start in the car before we left.

We spent the rest of the day exploring the town and visited a Ferrari dealer to drool and another dealer with old muscle cars... if I do well in Vegas I may have to come back and pick up this beautiful Oldsmobile 442 coupe... red of course. Wish me luck!

Fixing to go eat dinner... tomorrow we drive to Sedona and then on to Grand Canyon.

Day 8

We drove from El Paso to Scottsdale Az. I only thought driving through west Texas sucked, New Mexico is even worse! No scenery till Arizona. The highlight was Jeffrey passing his first ethnicity test with flying colors. Temp is over 100 degrees but with no humidity. Similar to opening the door of a blast furnace. Going to Rusty Spur Saloon tonight.

River Walk and Howl at the Moon

Howl at the Moon is a very cool dueling pianos bar. Similar to Savannah Smiles. We highly recommend it

Day 7

Today we drove to El Paso from San Antonio. For those of you who have driven I16 between Macon and Savannah and complain about it.... you ain't seen nothin! West Texas makes 16 feel like a riveting, adrenaline packed driving experience. Similar to driving through South Dakota, the total lack of scenery is interesting for the first 5 minutes and then you sink into a kind of boredom that cannot be put into words. One thing I will say for Texas, they know how to set a speed limit through west bumble... 80mph, so we spent the whole time at around 90. There are a couple of pictures of the drive.

Dad, in case you were curious your car has a speed governor at 130mph. See picture for details.

Day 6

Ok well we went around San Antonio yesterday and explored. We went and saw and walked through the Alamo which was pretty interesting. There is a whole lot of history there. Took some pictures but haven't loaded them yet. Then we went down the riverwalk which is basically a little river that runs through town with a whole bunch of restaurants, shops, bars, and hotels all along it. They also have little water taxi things that run up and down it. Its definitely the big tourist area. Went back there for dinner last night and ate at a bbq place called County Line. It was really good. Not the best I've ever had but still really good. Was a little different to have bbq beef though.

Story Time

We went to dinner on the River Walk tonight, right along the canal where the pidgeons and ducks roam and beg for chips. Now for the story, in some of these words you'll need to change a letter, if you can't figure this out let me know.

There were these two ducks, a boy duck and a girl duck, The girl duck was bent over eating a chip and it was more than the boy duck could stand. The boy duck walks up and starts trying to duck the girl duck. Well she wasn't having any of his duckin around and knocked him off. In shock the boy duck turns back around, the girl duck comes after him and bites him on the butt. He runs off hanging his head in shame. The girl duck then stood there and bitched about it for the next 5 minutes. Guess he forgot their anniversary or somethin. Boys... no means no! Don't be a ducked duck.

For sound just think about Donald Duck throwing a temper tantrum in an old Disney cartoon.

Day 5

Ok well we are now in San Antonio. Irony struck hard on the way though cause the a/c went out in the car. It did fine until today but today not so much. Anyway glad it was on a short leg cause we got pretty hot in the car. Also dropped the car off at the local Audi dealer to get fixed. Which is good if they can figure it out. Bad though cause now we don't have GPS which is how we were getting around. Now we are using maps which sucks. So hopefully they will get the car fixed before we have to take it back and drive to El Paso. We'll see though.

Here are pictures from New Orleans

Day 4

Ok well today we took it pretty easy. Slept in a little bit then got up and went to the Houston Space Center. It was a lot more crowded than we expected it to be especially on a Sunday. Was pretty interesting though. Got to tour the center and go into some of the buildings. We saw mission control and the training area with all the different simulators and everything. We got some good pictures and will post em later. Well tomorrow we are off to San Antonio. Shortest drive so far which will be nice.

Day 3

Forgot to post yesterday so I'll just recap a little bit. Yesterday we drove from New Orleans to Houston. Wasn't to bad of a drive. I think it was just under 6 hours. But, we now know that driving across west Texas is gonna be really dull because east Texas wasn't exactly exciting. Anyway Houston is a pretty cool city and we are right downtown. Its actually not a whole lot different from Atlanta really. They have a street similar to Peachtree with a lot of bars and restaurants on it. They also have a good number of bums that ask for handouts. Last night we went out on that street (Main Street), ate at a good Mexican restaurant then went to an Irish pub kinda place. We ended up talking to some of the locals and got some more ideas of stuff to see today because all we knew that we wanted to see was the space center. Oh yeah Joseph has some pictures from New Orleans that I guess he'll post today.
